Conference on Poetry Frequently Asked Questions


At the Conference


  • What should I pack?

    Evenings get chilly in the White Mountains, even in July! Remember to pack warm clothes for the evening readings. We also recommend bringing a flashlight and bug spray. There are plenty of shops where you can buy these items if necessary.
  • Can I lodge with a roommate?

    Yes. If you are planning to bring someone to stay with you who will not be attending the conference, please notify us. There will be an additional guest fee for food and lodging. If you would like to lodge with another participant, just let us know and we will make arrangements.
  • I have a food restriction or allergy, can that be accommodated?

    Yes. Please notify us of any food restrictions ahead of time and we will advise the kitchen staff accordingly.
  • Are there computers and/or printers available on the campus? Will there be a way for me to polish and edit work from my journal/notebook on a computer on the campus?

    A: You will need to send in copies of your poems via email for the workshop. Martha Rhodes will send out an email detailing all of this. There are computers and printers available for use in the library on campus.

Travel


  • When should I arrive?

    The first day is check-in, registration, and the first evening reading. On the first day we share important information for the week—it is strongly advised that participants arrive by 3:00pm on Sunday, July 9.
  • Do you have any suggestions of the best way to travel to Manchester or directly to the Frost Place campus from Boston?

    There is an “express” bus service from Boston to Littleton(a larger town very close to The White Mountain School where the program accommodations are). You can catch it at the airport in Boston. For the sake of accurate comparison, it takes about two and a half hours to drive from Boston to Littleton in a personal vehicle. You can also rent a car in Manchester or Boston. Finally, we may be able to put you in touch with another participant so that you can carpool. Give us a call and we will work on it together.   • Approximately what time is the shuttle from Manchester airport on Sunday, July 9?

    We will be sending out an email to all of the participants with more details regarding the 2017 shuttle.
  • I need to extend my stay or have a specific travel need.
