Holly Smith, Instructor
Poetry Out Loud is a free, ever-changing source for bringing poetry to life in the classroom. In this Teachers’ Round Table session, educator and Poetry Out Loud veteran Holly Smith will offer structured ways for teachers to navigate POL, with the goal of getting out of students’ way to facilitate authentic choice and engagement. In the session we will explore strategies to support the independent study, recitation, and writing of poems using the POL database of poems; use past POL recitations as high-interest entry points to poetry; and provide support to teachers wishing to build or continue a POL program at their school.
